Day two began with a post-breakfast run to Bempton. Despite a long walk and careful scrutiny of every 'tweet' we encountered, Corn Bunting still proved to be elusive. After coffee we headed back to Flamborough for a walk around Thornwick Pools. Unfortunately none of last week's unusual migrants had hung on for us, and all we managed were a few common species. We did, however, meet a local expert (an ex-BOU committee member) who gave us the gen we needed: a location for Corn Bunting!
A short drive found us walking up the bizarrely-named Hoddie Cow Lane: a terrific slice of old England, with thick hedgerows and lots of birds. In a half-hour ramble we found two, possibly three Corn Buntings as well as several pairs of Yellowhammers. The super image is Brian's: does show the results you can achieve with a top of the range camera and lens (and skill, of course!)
After ice creams at Flamborough we headed back to Cameron Court to relax before dinner.
