A footnote to our visit to the Brecks: the riverbanks at Santon Warren suddenly came alive with colour as the Sun warmed them: literally hundreds of Banded Demoiselles fluttered around the nettle-beds. Personally, I find the emerald green of the females more subtle and sophisticated without the prussian blue wing bands of their consorts! Lots of Mayflies, too: nearly as beautiful in their own way.
