Menage a trois! Venus, Mars and the Moon

It was worth an early rise this morning to see the splendid sight of these three beautiful celestial objects in the dawn sky. Mars is about as bright as it can be, while Venus is magnitude -4.4.

Wednesday night sees the peak of the annual Perseid meteor shower, which can be the best of the year: any time after midnight look in the region of the 'W' shaped constellation Cassiopeia.
