Glossy Ibis at East Ruston....

...you can't win them all!

With all the new inventory (lunars, diogenites and slices of chondrite) boxed, labelled and put in trays, I had a few 'vacant hours' this afternoon, and decided to take the 25 minute drive to East Ruston to see if I could connect with the reported Glossy Ibis. Given the somewhat remote location, I was surprised to bump into old chums Bob, Richard 'the Hat', Steve and Dot. A long vigil failed to add the anticipated year tick: it was windy and - more significantly - the juncus was in clumps twice the height of an Ibis!

Pleasant to catch up with other veteran birders and chat about old times and birding friends, even if the only birds seen were a few Buzzards, a Snipe and lots of Grey Herons.

I did manage a few birds on the way there and back, notably a Merlin just south of Acle Bridge, a couple of Cranes that flew over the road near Clippesby and a large flock of Golden Plover at Ludham Airfield.
