Goldfinches and Lapwings: this winter's success story!

At the moment our small garden is full of Goldfinches! They fly over in large, noisy flocks (50+) often congregating in the top branches of our sycamore: I have never seen so many, not just on the Heath, but also as I drive around East Norfolk. Similarly, there have been some vast flocks of Lapwings in the Yare Valley: again, they frequently fly overhead from north to south, while Buckenham has held some truly amazing murmurations of these delightful plovers.
