Brian and I decided on a visit to Lakenheath: more in hope than expectation! In the event we enjoyed fine weather until midday and one or two interesting birds.
As possibly to be expected, Lakenheath delivered three Cranes, bugling away from the reed beds, and a pair of Great White Egrets. Completing the circuit, we decided on a move to the well-known Goshawk site. By the time we arrived the temperature had dropped four degrees and the clouds had rolled over. Lots of Buzzards spiraled up from the belt of woodland and then - eventually - a couple of distant Goshawks made brief appearances: the nearest tazzed along the front edge of the woodland in pursuit of a few pigeons.
