After an early start (03.45) and despite a hideous volume of traffic on the M23, M25 and M11, we made good time and were home from Findon (near Shoreham) before 07.00.
As always the cottage on Gallop's Farm was impeccably clean and welcoming and it was great chatting with hosts Emma & Rob. Their farm is gradually evolving into a real 'wildlife experience', with new meadows, a pond and ambitious plans for an avenue of trees.
For Mum-in-Law it was a welcome escape from her normal, somewhat tedious routine and I'm sure she enjoyed adding White-tailed Eagle to the Cattle and Great White Egrets she saw for the first time on this trip! Many thanks to the birder who helped Mary to see the eagle, moving and altering his telescope so she could view it from her wheelchair: you are a gentleman, sir!
Lots of tea and cakes were consumed, as was a delightful Indian supper, delivered straight to our cottage door!
