Brian and I took a run up to Cley in the hope that the easterly wind might drop some interesting birds: in the event the only unusual item was the long-staying Dowitcher on Pat's Pool. A couple of sea watches revealed that the large gathering of Razorbills (and a few Guillemots) was still just offshore, as were lots of juvenile Gannets. A teeny Harvest Mouse nearly sat on Brian's boot!
A move inland to Hickling added the first Whooper Swans of the Autumn, as well as a few Bramblings mixed in with a vast flock of Greenfinches. Several Great White Egrets stalked the reed margins, while a pair of impossibly distant Black Terns were just visible on Hickling Broad.
