Hen Harrier at Cley

Since I had to deliver some of Linda's wax wraps to the NWT visitors' centre, Brian, Norman and I drove up to Cley a day earlier than usual. A seawatch at the Coastguards gave us just a few divers and grebes plus an unexpected pair of Great White Egrets, so we quickly relocated onto the reserve. Bishops Hide was fairly quiet, but six Snipe in a bunch was good to see, while the walk out along East Bank provided stunning views of several small groups of Bearded Tits

The walk back was even better, since we managed to add a strikingly-marked ringtailed Hen Harrier to the day list - only the second this year. After coffee we walked out to the centre hides, but apart from a Marsh Harrier and female Stonechat there was nothing special around.

On the way home we tried to visit Blakeney, but the car park was full: howeverr, a brief stop by the side of the road gave us distant views of the Hen Harrier again!
