A 'funny' Swift and out for a few 'jars!

As I was mowing the lawn I noticed a steady passage of Common Swifts heading North: among these was a nearly white individual - poor, distant image below....

This did cause me to reflect on the ultimate fate of leucistic or albino birds - I've seen pure white Starlings, Chaffinches, Robins and Blackbirds over the years. How on earth do they survive being picked out by predators?

A little later a Spitfire flew across the garden very low: no chance of a photo this time!

Tonight, given the promising weather forecast, a few of us are going to try to connect with a reasonably local colony of Nightjars: fingers crossed!
