Something Linda and I have wanted to see - or even photograph - for years is the small but flourishing population of Beavers in South Devon. This year, thanks to local bloggers Karen and Chris, we achieved this ambition, with views far beyond our expectations.
After a mile walk and an hour's wait, we suddenly saw a young kitten emerge from the lodge, soon followed by its mother and another kitten. These delightful creatures played, groomed and fed for over an hour before we left them to walk back to the car. On the way we picked up several Grey Wagtails and - right out of the blue - a Long-eared Owl calling persistently from the tall oaks lining the rocky gorge.
