It's been a cool twenty years since Linda and I last encountered Cirl Buntings in the UK. Today, we renewed acquaintances with this rare and charismatic species at one of its strongholds: Prawle Point.
This place has a special place in our hearts: our first holiday together started here and, in 1999, we watched the total eclipse of the Sun from a field at East Prawle. Today we found at least five individuals, but only a couple that came close enough for photos.
Other birds included Buzzard and Little Egret: an unexpected sight was a colourful character in Kingsbridge taking his three pet owls for a walk!
