A walk at Strumpshaw Fen in the just-post-dawn early sunlight was predictably fairly uneventful in terms of the recent unexpected species (eg: Rough-leg, Hen Harrier, Pintail etc) but was nonetheless very enjoyable. Part of the reason for this was, of course, the presence of the other 'Summer Winers', but also it's always good to catch up with 'common' woodland birds such as Treecreeper, Marsh Tit. Coal Tit and so on. Lots of Marsh Harriers, of course, as well as a very distant almost white large raptor that could possibly have been a Rough-leg: couldn't go over to Lackford to check because the Yare was overflowing its banks!
