Not far from the A47 is a 'temporary' pool that appeared some months back in a corner of an arable field. I've been keeping an eye on it, but seen nothing more exciting than Shelduck in the past! Today, however there was a large group of gulls present: mostly Black-headed and Common, but in among them were fifty or so Mediterranean Gulls and a solitary adult Yellow-legged Gull - a year tick!
Also feeding happily at the back of the pool was a drake Mandarin Duck in eclipse: still sporting a colourful 'sail' and other markings. I think that's a local patch tick!
