A couple of hundred metres along the road from our bungalow is the Bird in Hand - once one of the village's two pubs - which ceased trading in 1930 (The other, the Two Friends, is now a high-end Indian restaurant!)
Claire, the present owner, has created a wonderful formal garden which she opens to the public every Summer in aid of Hemblington Church. Despite the current heat wave, Claire has managed to achieve a wonderful display once again, with most of the village visiting to view the garden, buy plants and enjoy a glass of Pimms.
