Hume's Warbler: new for the year

Given the predicted northerly winds, Brian and I decided to start the day with a seawatch at Sheringham and then Cley. In the event the best we could manage was a few Eiders and Gannets, although a recently deceased Puffin at Sheringham was interesting...

We continued west all the way to Titchwell, where the situation was pretty similar: not much to look at apart from a drake Goldeneye and a few distant ducks and waders. In a triumph of optimism over experience, we back-tracked to Brancaster for a stab at the long-staying Hume's Warbler: amazingly (and in no small measure of thanks to Cindy, a delightful American birder) we both saw the Hume's and took a few fuzzy record shots. Intriguingly there seemed to be two individuals 100m apart: either that or one bird moving very quickly! A Great White Egret was feeding nonchalantly by the car park.

A beautifully-marked Common Buzzard at Holkham was best of the rest on the way back East: as the rain started, we called it a day!
