Incredible good fortune: with minutes to go the skies cleared in time for fantastic views of this once-in-a-lifetime event. Mars is as close and as bright as it ever gets, so even the glare of a full Moon didn't obscure it! Linda and I both got up early and enjoyed this awesome spectacle: yet another astronomical event we've shared in our 28 wonderful years together!
