A Short-eared Owl brightens up a dreary day!

Our usual 7.00am start found Brian, Norman and me in Bishop's Hide, peering through the gloom at a mixed bag of distant waders. These included Black and Bar-tailed Godwits, Golden Plover, Curlew, Greenshanks and lots of Lapwings. Little else to titillate, so we decided on a walk along the shingle from the Beach Car Park. This was a fortunate call, because the three best birds of the day arrived with a rush near North 'Hide': these were a Short-eared Owl I found coming in-off, a Ring Ouzel and a distant Whinchat.

After coffee we moved on to Wells Woods, where a sizeable investment in parking fees resulted in just a couple of Buzzards and a few flocks of Redwing. We returned to Cley, walking out to the Centre Hides. Nothing much to add to the day's haul, apart from a Buzzard that sat on a post all the time we were there!
