Amazing gig last night: 'The Music of Cream', featuring Kofi Baker, Malcolm Bruce and Will Johns.This was NOT an attempt to reproduce the music of their legendary fathers / uncle, but the guys' own interpretation of it. Absolutely astonishing virtuosity!
Peter and I are both musicians of sorts (he a drummer, me a guitarist / vocalist) and we sat spellbound at the faultless performances of the three players. I'd worried that the death of Ginger Baker on Sunday might have resulted in a cancellation, but it turns out that - although he admired his father - Kofi didn't like or speak with him.
Amazing that Will Johns has so many famous uncles: his mum is the sister of Patti Boyd, so his relatives by marriage include Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Mick Fleetwood!
