An early start found Brian, Norman and me at Thornham Harbour by 7.45. We were hoping to see some Twite - and indeed we did, but none close enough to photograph. We did come across the leucistic Linnet that appeared on the pager as an Arctic Redpoll / Snow Bunting (!) yesterday: a very interesting bird it was too. While we were watching it, a Great White Egret flew over and a Red Kite hunted across the saltings.
Titchwell was pretty non-productive (apart from cheese scones!) but it was interesting to discover that there were still quite a few Avocets on the reserve. We moved on to Burnham Overy, walking down from the main road. A colourful Stonechat flitted along the hedge in front of us, while the grazing meadows held several large groups of Curlew.
In the distance we could make out several white blobs: these obligingly took flight and headed towards us, revealing themselves to be eight Cattle Egret.
A final stop at Cley provided obscured views of a Yellow-browed Warbler at Walsey Hills: still - always good to see.
