Cattle Egret at Buckenham Marsh

While it's true that Cattle Egrets are becoming a regular visitor to many sites in Norfolk, they are still fairly unusual in the Yare Valley (I've seen a single bird at Strumpshaw and perhaps three or four on the Halvergate Marshes) When we heard that one had been seen at Buckenham Marsh, Linda and I had an early breakfast and went for a look.

Wednesday night had been clear and moonlit, so we half expected that the Egret might have moved on: in fact we found it straight away on the east side of the large pool.
