December bird count at Hemblington Church

This month's survey of the churchyard didn't throw up any surprises, although a flock of sixty or so Pink-footed Geese was slightly unusual. It was nice for Linda and me to share the count (albeit at a distance!) with Peter and Sue: no tea and cake, though, because of the 'plague'!

Linda decided to walk home, so I carried on to Acle (no sign of the Ibises or GWE) then Filby (no sign of the Long-tailed Duck) finishing off at Branch Road, where a few dozen Pinkfeet flew in to feed. A bit of nostalgia when a pair of (type 37?) diesel-electric locomotives trundled past... It was pleasant to meet Peter Ransome at Filby - again at cricket-pitch distance!
