Holkham Bay: Grebes and Pipits!

With no obvious targets, Brian and I spent a couple of fruitless hours searching for the handful of Shorelarks that are overwintering this year. We may have seen them as they flew away into the mist, but, like the flock of 50+ Snow Buntings, they didn't hang around to be photographed.

Offshore there was a large raft of Wigeon, associating with which were Great Crested, Red-necked and Slavonian Grebes. Closer in were a couple of pairs of Red-breasted Mergansers and several Rock Pipits.

A move to Cley was slightly more productive, with a somewhat distant (and inaccessible) Great White Egret. The reported 'Bean Goose' was, of course, a Pink-foot!
