Linda and I have been pescatarians for thirty-odd years (we do eat occasional fish dishes to add extra nutrients such as omega 3)
Veggie food doesn't have to be bland, or consist entirely of lentils. Last night's Christmas dinner was a case in point: you'd hardly notice the absence of animal products, especially if you actually enjoy root vegetables and brassicas. The main item was a mushroom, chestnut and shallot wellington, with a port wine reduction.
