Cley: a long walk in the Sun!

An early start saw Norman and I in the Centre Hides at Cley by around eight o'clock. Virtually the only bird present (apart from the ubiqitous Avocets) was a beautiful - but distant - Spotted Redshank. We decided to walk the entire circuit: beach road, shingle bank and back along the East Bank. To be honest, the effort wasn't particularly worthwhile, although I did see my first Wheatear of the year! Other birds included Reed & Sedge Warblers, Bearded Tits, Stonechats, 3 Med Gulls, a Great White Egret and a Buzzard over North Foreland.

After coffee we walked back to Bishop's, where first one, then two Spoonbils dropped in to feed. Several Pochard still hanging around, but little else of note, apart from a flyover by the bizarre Airbus Beluga.

A walk out along the Iron Road and to Babcock Hide failed to deliver the hoped-for wagtails...
