Montagu's Harrier is a species that's becoming almost legendary: gone are the days when there were two or three regular sites in Norfolk. So when a ringtail was reported by the A47 just west of Great Yarmouth, it was too good a chance to pass up on, despite the overcast and blustery conditions.
Conveniently there was an empty layby opposite the most recently reported location, with two very pleasant Sheringham birders to reassure me that the bird was still present. However, there was no sign for half an hour, so they departed, leaving me to enjoy a pair of Yellow Wagtails. Then suddenly up popped a Marsh Harrier, closely followed by the Monty's! Difficult to photograph, but I like the ones with Yarmouth landmarks in the background!
