Conservation can be hard work!

I mean real conservation, as carried out by thousands of volunteers all over the UK: maintaining hedges, wildflower meadows, raking rank vegetation... Our minor contribution is to help maintain the wildlife-rich habitat of Hemblington Church: regular readers will know that the churchyard and surrounds support a surprising variety of birds, mammals, invertebrates and plants, but this requires regular (and arduous!) physical labour. Since we're all pretty ancient, I feel proud and privileged to be part of this terrific team.
