Caspian Tern at Potter - and some surprising raptors, too!

Despite the drizzle and gloom, it was still terrific to catch up with the Caspian Tern at Potter Heigham (at 5.00am!) Even 'though I've seen six or so before, a tern the size of a chicken is always worth making the effort for!

Also flying in and and out of the gloom were Hobby, Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, Buzzard and Kestrel - and I saw a Red Kite on the way home too! A solitary Spoonbill was sieving away on the far side of the marsh, but, given the weather, I decided not to walk all the way around for a closer view. Other birds included Cuckoo (by the mill) Cetti's, Reed & Sedge Warbler as well as what sounded very much like a Marsh Warbler near the electric pump compound...

Footnote:
Having listened to the calls online, I'm 100% certain the 'Marsh Warbler' was in fact a Blyth's Reed Warbler: if you go for the Tern, keep your ears open near the pump compound
