Many happy returns: a couple of hours at Cley

Brian and I met at the Walsey Hills layby at 6.30 and enjoyed a gentle walk around the perimeter of the reserve. We stopped opposite 'Watcher's Cottage' for a few minutes, but no sign of Steve and Sue's recently-present Rose-coloured Starling, nor the famous leucistic Barn Owl. Lots of Little Egrets - perhaps a dozen at least - and, of course, Meadow Pipits were everywhere! There were odds and ends to look at all the way around the reserve, including Sandwich and Little Terns, Reed and Sedge Warblers a pair of Little Ringed Plovers and a few Bearded Tits. A move to Kelling Quags added just Cuckoo, Whitethroat and Linnet to the daylist, so we said our cheerios and left just before the rain!
