Morning fill-up at Hickling NWT Reserve

For the first time in a while, I met Brian and Norman at Hickling for an early morning walk around. First stop was Brendan's Scrape, where we enjoyed good views of the pair of Black-winged Stilts as well as lots of colourful Ruff and Little Ringed Plover. A walk along the path to the new watch point added Wood, Common and Green Sandpiper to the list, as well as Greenshank, Black-tailed Godwit and Spotted Redshank. Continuing to Stubb Mill, twenty or so Common Cranes flew by in the distance, while six Spoonbills were good to see.

We completed our circuit of the reserve, adding Bittern and Great White Egret to our tally: a terrific short session!
