Farnes trip: land and shore birds

During our five days in Northumberland Linda and I spent a fair amount of time trying to find a Red Squirrel: we visited all the places that are reputed to be 'easy' (Hauxley, Kielder, Kyloe, Howick Hall etc ) before we finally connected at Wallington Hall on the way home. These various excursions produced some lovely bird moments for us: lots of Buzzards, of course, but also Rock, Tree and Meadow Pipits, Redstarts, Great Spotted Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and lots of waders (at Cresswell Pool, Druridge, and Hauxley. The only 'semi target' we missed was Osprey at Kielder, but - to be honest - we didn't try that hard!
