Egret-fest at Hickling!

Lots of Egret action at Hickling today: no sign of the reported Cattle Egret, but four Great Whites (at least!) and dozens of Littles. Also, for a pleasant change, there was a good variety of waders on the new Cadbury Scrape: these included Wood and Green Sandpipers, Greenshank, Little Ringed Plover, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher and Ruff.

Around the reserve we came across several family groups of Bearded Tits, Reed Warblers and Blackcaps, as well as a Kingfisher and the ever-present Cranes. A decent early morning session for Brian, Norman and me.
