It's been a long time since the Rock & Roll....

It's been four months... four months... since I last walked around Strumpshaw Fen! Bearing in mind I typically visit the reserve at least twice a week, that's quite an interval. Perhaps somewhat belatedly the trails are now reopened, although the hides are not. The one way system seems to have been well thought out and it was a pleasure to make a couple of early morning circuits. As you'll have seen, the impetus to make the ten minute drive to the Fen was the report of a new butterfly, but there were a few other bits and pieces: best of all was a confiding Treecreeper, but a family group of Spotted Flycatchers was very welcome. Another interesting find was a wild Honey Bee nest: what engaging little creatures they are!
