The Moon's Alpine Valley

Since it was cloudy at 11.00pm, I didn't crawl out of bed really early: nevertheless, the comet was visible much higher in the sky at 3.45. The 'seeing' was superb, and the details visible on the Moon were terrific: the Alpine Valley (arrowed) is a fascinating feature that was carved out by an oblique impact - I can't remember seeing it so well. Mars was very close to the Moon, and Jupiter's galilean satellites were nicely strung out!
