Norman, Brian and I headed south east for a change, in hopes of hearing Nightingale song - it's been a while! We parked in the main carpark and walked back to the entrance: immediately we heard - and saw - one of these delightful songbirds. No photos, sadly...
The walk around the reserve was rewarded with further year ticks in the shape of Lesser Whitethroat, Kittiwake, Barnacle Goose and Sandwich Tern. As seems to be the fashion at RSPB reserves, the water levels were far too high for waders: just a few Godwits. Several Mediterranean Gulls loitered on the islands.
After coffee we drove around to Dunwich Heath. With a little patience we added Dartford Warbler to the list, and saw Stonechat and Cuckoo too!
