When Linda heard there were two Great Grey Shrikes at Strumpshaw, she made me turn off the roast (vegetarian, naturally!) and speed off to the Fen!
A stop at Fen hide was negative, so we slogged through the mud to Tower Hide where, after a bit of a delay, first one then both GGS posed distantly in the gloom. The conditions stretched the new camera to the limit, but I managed a few record shots. There were around ten Common Snipe in front of the hide: what lovely birds they are...
As we walked back to the car, the beginnings of a Starling roost was building over Reception Broad, and literally dozens of Harriers dropped into the trees and reedbeds.
