Red-necked Grebe at Ormesby Little Broad: a great start to the 2022 list!

Linda and I fancied a quick run around East Norfolk before the traffic built up: by 9.00 we were standing - alone - on the viewing platform at Ormesby Little Broad, enjoying great views of a well-marked Red-necked Grebe. The walk out and back added Marsh Harrier, Siskin and Coal Tit to the rapidly-growing list, while a path-side Great Spotted Woodpecker performed well for the gathering birders and walkers. Our cue to leave!

Carrying on around the east coast, we cut back inland via Martham, interrupting our drive home with a detour to Thurne. Almost as soon as we parked by the staithe, a flock of five Common Cranes flew low overhead, joined by a sixth as they passed the mill.
