The Orion Nebula...

It's that time of year again: everyone's favourite constellation rises in the east and presents a terrific opportunity to observe and/or photograph the beautiful Orion Nebula, M42. As before, these images were taken with a standard GPS-equipped DSLR using 'Astrotracker': 800 ISO, 2 minutes exposure.

The group of stars is the famous 'Seven Sisters': the Pleiades. You can just make out some clouds of glowing gas around them. The final photo shows Orion just clearing the eastern horizon, with the V-shaped constellation of Taurus above.
